December 17 - Kyrgyzstan: Round table on legal framework around sex work

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, 17 December, in International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, Tais Plus and Shah-Aiym Network with support of AFEW and Robert Carr Fund organize Round Table "Legal regulation of sex work and law enforcement practices towards sex workers in Kyrgyzstan".

The purpose of the round table is an open dialogue on the legislation and practices related to sex workers in Kyrgyzstan. Participants are Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health, international organizations, human rights activists, Ombudsman Office and and non-governmental organizations supporting sex workers.

We hope this round table will give a chance openly discussing the activity of the new police department on morality recently established in Bishkek , as well as to get clarification whether there is a actual initiative on developing a new bill which will consider administrative penalty for both sex workers and for clients.
