Action against street prostitution in Kazakhstan

“Target measures to make order on the mentioned streets were accomplished by Almaty Department of Internal Affairs. You can see well the results of this work: the “priestesses of love” are not there anymore”, - told B. Aihimbekov to journalists of “Interfax Kazakhstan” at the press-conference on Thursday in Almaty.

Also he added that the police took up this issue under a constant control so that these streets do not turn to “red lights streets” again.

“This is not a one-day or one-month work. This work is under constant control so that they [prostitutes] do not come there again. And if they find another place, this means that we will make order there as well”, - stated B. Aihimbekov.

To the question of journalists why this work hadn’t taken place earlier, the head of traffic police replied: “It is impossible to start everything at once or to solve all problems simultaneously”.
He added that may be the time has already come.

The population of the largest city in Kazakhstan – Almaty - is about 1,5 million.
