About the Webinar

In 2023, the Sex Workers’ Rights Advocacy Network (SWAN), Eurasian Coalition for Health, Rights, Gender and Sexual Diversity (ECOM), Eurasian Harm Reduction Association (EHRA), and Eurasian Women’s Network on AIDS (EWNA) undertook cross-regional consultations to collect and assess existing experiences in the ways that intersecting identities – including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT), people who use drugs (PWUD), sex workers (SW), and people who live with HIV (PLHIV), might affect people’s lives, access to health services, and agency in light of the structural inequalities, social injustice, violence, stigma and discrimination.

The findings were summarized in the Report on Intersecting Issues, Identities, and Barriers in Access to Health Care, HIV Services & Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights among Key Populations in Central and Eastern Europe & Central Asia.

The Summary Report highlights the complexities of intersecting vulnerabilities faced by key populations. The report draws attention to how overlapping forms of discrimination—rooted in stigma, social prejudice, criminalization, and violence—further marginalize individuals who belong to more than one key population.

This online meeting is planned to launch the Summary Report, share its key findings with CEECA stakeholders, and facilitate a discussion on advocacy strategies and practical solutions. By convening community activists, advocates, and other interested parties, this two-hour session aims to raise awareness, foster collective strategizing, and identify next steps to address intersecting barriers and challenges related to HIV, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), and broader human rights in the region.
