International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers aims to raise awareness of the violence and abuse perpetrated on sex workers, while remembering those who have been its victims. At the same time, this is the day for unity among sex workers and their allies all over the world to show the strength and determination to end abuse and ensure equal rights for sex workers.
В Глобальной Деревне сообщества и НГО получили возможность представить и объяснить суть того, чем они занимаются. Кроме того здесь также можно было увидеть как наука воплощается в коллективное действие и вмешательство. Именно поэтому организациям и сетям стоило принять участие в работе Глобальной Деревни.
It was a space where communities and NGO’s could explain and present their work. It was also a space that invited conference participants to see how science translates into community action and intervention. It was one of the most important reasons for being present as organization, as network at the Global Village.

American immigration laws have long restricted the entry of former and active sex workers into the country, but it wasn’t until this summer that the consequences of that became clear to sex worker activists. On the 15th of June 2010, a distinguished researcher and advocate for sex workers’ rights was stopped from entering the United States to attend a meeting of the Technical Advisory Group for the Commission on HIV and the Law. American immigration authorities decided that she presented a “high-risk” for prostitution and human trafficking.
