The initiative for marking this day is coming from Annie Sprinkle (sex worker/porn star later become sexologist) and Sex Workers Outreach Project USA as a memory and peaceful protest in the name of the victims of the murderer from Green River in Seattle, Washington, who was sentenced to 48 life terms and was fined $10,000 for each victim on December 18, 2003.

Later same day, between 17h-21h at the European Center for culture and debate, Belgrade, Equal Rights is organizing a panel discussion on 17th December and sex workers rights .

We live in a society of buying and selling services, including sex.

Sandra: This day is very important for me, because it’s a day when people all over the world remember the victims murdered in the sex work. And also it is a day when we can fight for our rights that are so often being violated .
